Our story.

We’re The Gales, the family behind Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery. As Wisconsin natives, we both grew up spending time on the Door Peninsula with our families and friends. It's a place of restoration, filled with outdoor activity, natural beauty, and a balance of serenity and liveliness that comes with the changing seasons. We have endless memories here, and want to take part in creating them for you, too.

Amy grew up in Milwaukee, with hospitality at the forefront of her career path. She's worked the gamut of event planning, from non-profit fundraisers and catering, to corporate events and weddings. Which was only natural, seeing as when it comes to parties, she'd rather spend time creating invitations and seating arrangements, setting the table, and laboring over the perfect menu.

Eric was born and raised in Luxemburg. Like any farm kid, he is all too familiar with the chores of an agricultural life. Alas, cows and corn had their shortcomings. A horticulturist at heart, he found grapes could speak volumes if given proper attention. Attention he was willing to commit to both on and off the vine.

The spark of the wine industry took us to Washington State where it ignited a passion in us both. Eric earned his Masters in Viticulture and soon after a career in the same, while Amy dove head first into tasting room management. We built a repertoire of wine knowledge, relationships with grape growers, and years of hand-on (and boots-on!) experience. Despite the successful roles, the desire to come home was strong.

We blended our passions and talents, added memories from the past, dreams for the future, and splash of wine to get where we are today. We hope you'll join us in raising a glass wherever your roots are anchored, because every day is a celebration!

Our mission.

Anchored Roots Vineyard & Winery ties together the “roots” of our home, the vines at the heart of our business, and the maritime history of Door County.

We embody environmental sustainability, nature and exploration, community, family, friendship, and celebration.

Our vineyard management, production, and operations anchor these roots at the forefront of our business practices, being mindful, intentional, and practical with our decision-making.
